Good to know
Why photos show up sideways.
Phones store a photo the way the sensor saw it, plus a note saying which way is up (the EXIF orientation). Most apps follow the note; some websites and older programs ignore it, so the photo appears sideways. Rotating here writes the pixels the right way up and drops the note, so it looks right everywhere.
- Angles that are not a multiple of 90° make the picture larger to fit the corners. PNG and WebP corners stay transparent; JPG corners are filled with the colour you pick.
- JPG files are saved as JPG (quality 92), WebP as WebP, and everything else as lossless PNG.
FAQ
Questions people ask first.
- How do I rotate an image?
- Open it in the tool above, choose 90° right, 90° left, 180° or a custom angle, and download it.
- How do I rotate a picture 90 degrees?
- Choose “90° right” to turn it clockwise or “90° left” to turn it anticlockwise.
- Why is my photo sideways on a website but fine on my phone?
- The phone uses a hidden orientation note that the website ignores. Rotating here fixes the pixels themselves, so it shows correctly everywhere.
- Can I straighten a slightly tilted photo?
- Yes. Use the slider for small angles such as 2° or −3°. The picture grows a little to fit the turned corners.
- Are my images uploaded?
- No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to Daniotech or anyone else.
