Image compressor to 200KB

Settings

The file will be at most this size. 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, so it also passes forms that count 1,024.

Optional. Leave both empty to keep the size; fill one to keep the shape; fill both for an exact size a form asks for (the picture is centred and trimmed to that shape, never stretched).

How to

Compress an image to 200KB.

  1. 1Choose one or more images, or drop them on the box. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and iPhone HEIC all work.
  2. 2Leave the target at 200KB, or type a different size. Add pixels only if they are fixed.
  3. 3Download each JPG, or Download all for one ZIP. Every file’s new size is shown, so you can see it is under 200KB before you upload.

What fits

How big a photo fits in 200KB.

Highest JPG quality that fits in 200KB
Long sideShawlShoeJacketBiker jacket

1000 px94888595
1400 px–––95
1800 px–––91
2304 px–––80

Highest JPG quality (out of 100) that kept each photo at or under the limit. Measured 17 October 2026 with Pillow 11.3 (libjpeg-turbo) on 1024 × 1024 product photos and a 1792 × 2304 one ("Biker jacket"); browsers use their own encoders, so expect close, not identical, results. Around 80 and above looks like the original.

Rule of thumb: 200KB keeps a detailed photo near-perfect at 1,000 pixels and a simple one sharp at up to 2,000. Good for email, listings and forms that allow larger files. Need it smaller? Try 100KB.

Behind the scenes

Best quality that fits, never over.

The tool saves a JPG at quality 92 first. If that is over 200KB, it searches down to quality 40 for the highest setting that fits. Only if quality 40 is still too big does it shrink the picture, choosing a size where quality stays around 75, because fewer pixels at good quality look better than more pixels at poor quality. 1 KB is counted as 1,000 bytes, so the file also passes forms that count 1,024.

FAQ

Questions people ask first.

How do I compress a photo to 200KB?
Open it in the tool above and download the JPG. It is saved at the highest quality that stays at or under 200KB, and made smaller in pixels only if needed.
Will a 200KB photo look good?
Yes, at sensible sizes. In our tests 1,000 px photos fitted at quality 85 to 95, which looks like the original on any screen.
Can I compress several photos at once?
Yes, up to 50. Each one is compressed separately, and Download all gives you one ZIP.
Why is my photo already under 200KB?
If a JPG is already under the target and you did not ask for new pixels, the tool leaves it untouched rather than making it worse.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is opened, compressed and saved by your own browser. Nothing is sent to Daniotech or any other server, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
