Image colour inverter

Settings

No settings needed. Every colour is replaced by its opposite (white ↔ black, blue ↔ yellow); transparency is kept.

How to

Invert the colours of an image.

  1. 1Choose your images, or drop them on the box.
  2. 2Each one is inverted straight away; the result is shown next to it.
  3. 3Download each image, or Download all as a ZIP.

How it works

Every colour becomes its opposite.

Each of red, green and blue is replaced by 255 minus its value. Transparency is left alone, so a logo on a transparent background stays on a transparent background.

Examples of inverted colours
ColourInverted
#000000 black#FFFFFF white
#0000FF blue#FFFF00 yellow
#FF0000 red#00FFFF cyan
#39FF14 green#C600EB purple

Uses: a dark version of a light logo, reading a scanned film negative, or checking contrast. Inverting twice gives back the original.

FAQ

Questions people ask first.

How do I invert the colours of an image?
Open it in the tool above; it is inverted straight away. Download the result.
Can I turn a film negative into a positive?
Inverting gets you most of the way. Colour negatives also have an orange base, so the result may need a colour correction afterwards in an editor.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. Only the colours are inverted; see-through areas stay see-through in PNG and WebP.
How do I invert a colour code?
Subtract each pair of digits from FF. For example #39FF14 becomes #C600EB. Use the image colour picker to read codes from a picture.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to Daniotech or anyone else.
