How to
Print wallet size photos on a 4 × 6.
- 1Open your photo. A head-and-shoulders shot works best for wallet and passport sizes.
- 2Pick the photo size (wallet 2.5 × 3.5 in, small wallet 2 × 3 in, passport 2 × 2 in or 35 × 45 mm) and the print sheet (4 × 6 in by default). Move the crop if the head is not centred.
- 3Download the JPG and order it as a normal 4 × 6 print, or print it at home at 100% size. Cut along the grey lines.
Sizes
How many fit on one 4 × 6 print.
| Photo size | Inches | Pixels at 300 DPI | Per 4 × 6 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wallet | 2.5 × 3.5 | 750 × 1050 | 2 |
| Small wallet | 2 × 3 | 600 × 900 | 4 |
| US passport / visa | 2 × 2 | 600 × 600 | 6 |
| Passport 35 × 45 mm | 1.38 × 1.77 | 413 × 531 | 8 |
A 4 × 6 print costs the same as one photo at most kiosks, so a sheet of copies is the cheapest way to get wallet and passport photos. Some photos are turned sideways to fit more; cut them out and turn them back.
Print it right
Keep the sizes true.
- Order a 4 × 6 print with no cropping or “fit to page” option. The file is exactly 1200 × 1800 pixels, which is 4 × 6 inches at 300 DPI.
- At home, print at 100% / actual size on 4 × 6 photo paper.
- Passport photos have their own rules (background, head size, expression). Check your country’s rules; this tool handles the size and the sheet. For a single 4 × 6 photo, see 4x6 photo size.
FAQ
Questions people ask first.
- What size is a wallet size photo?
- Usually 2.5 × 3.5 inches (6.4 × 8.9 cm). Some labs sell a smaller 2 × 3 inch wallet. Both sizes are in the tool.
- How many wallet size photos fit on a 4 × 6?
- Two of 2.5 × 3.5 inches, or four of 2 × 3 inches. The tool works this out and places them for you.
- How many passport photos fit on a 4 × 6?
- Six US passport photos (2 × 2 inches), or eight 35 × 45 mm passport photos when some are turned sideways.
- What resolution is the print sheet?
- 300 DPI: a 4 × 6 sheet is 1200 × 1800 pixels. The DPI is written into the JPG so print software uses the right size.
